The District Nursing Night Service is available from 9pm to 7.15am
- What does this service provide for palliative care patients and their carers?
You will receive care from district nurses, community staff nurses or community nursing assistants.
A qualified nurse will assess your overnight care needs and your district nurse will arrange your overnight visits.
A community nursing assistant will care for you in your own home from 10pm to 7am. The nursing assistant can contact a qualified nurse for advice or assistance at any time.
If you need extra help a qualified nurse is available to visit. They can help in many ways such as helping to manage your symptoms, assisting with any catheter problems or pressure relief. Requests can be made by patients, carers or your GP.
- How do patients and carers access this service?
The service covers the whole of the area covered by Leeds City Council. If you feel you would benefit from this service please discuss with this with your district nurse. They can request overnight care or plan a visit during the night.
If your district nurse registers you for palliative care services you will be given a priority phone number. This number will be displayed on a pink sticker on your district nursing records. You should ring this number for assistance out of office hours.
