Working with family grief: theory & practice
Location: Martin House Hospice, Boston Spa
Dates: 16th, 23rd, 30th April and 21st & 28th May 2012 (10am-4pm)
Length of study: Part-time, 5 days over 3 months
This module has been developed in partnership between Martin House Children’s Hospice and the Faculty of Health & Social Care at Leeds Metropolitan University. It is a single module offered at either level 5 (diploma level) or level 6 (degree level) and 15 academic points will be awarded on successful completion of the module. These can be used towards a Diploma or Degree pathway.
Aim: The module aims to enable students to develop their knowledge and skills in working with family loss, grief and bereavement.
Who is it for?: The module is open to anyone working with children and families and has an interest in family loss and grief. Evidence of the ability to successfully study at the appropriate level is required – please contact the module leader for further information.
Assessment: Assessment is through a reflective essay drawing on experiences of working with loss and bereavement within the family, making links to theory.
SHA funded places are available for NHS staff or non-NHS staff who support NHS students in practice – please ask if unsure if you are eligible.
